OUR PROJECT
In 2011 we embarked on the largest project ever attempted for Kytherian family history; the family tree of the entire island. We are reading and translating every record we have located to date to put together this family tree of people born on the island more than 100 years ago. We anticipate there will be almost 70,000 people and 300,000 citations once it has been completed. We want the memory of these people to live on forever!
As part of our project, we are incorporating photos of as many individuals as possible. We are trying to stop their memories being lost to history. So far, we have over 1200 photos of individuals matched to their information but there are thousands more. If you have any photos of people born on the island more than 100 years ago we would love to add them to the family tree of Kythera. We do hope to publish our work once complete. The photo can be of the person at any age and taken anywhere, but the person in the photo must be born more than 100 years ago.
